Tom Cruise is one of the most popular actors of all time. He has acted in numerous box office hits throughout his career. However, he had to work his way up from the bottom just like the other actors and actresses that have become famous.
Tom Cruise was born in Syracuse, New York in 1962. His parents were nomadic and he was moved numerous times throughout his life. Finally, his parents settled down in a town in New Jersey. Originally, Cruise had a dream of becoming a priest, and he held onto this dream until he reached high school. However, this was when he developed an interest in acting and his dream of becoming a priest was thrown by the wayside.
When Cruise was 18, he decided to move back to New York in order to pursue an acting career. Things went surprisingly well for Cruise after his move. The first role that he played was a small part in Endless Love, and right from the start people liked him.
This set Cruise up to begin playing lead roles in major films such as Top Gun and Rain Man. These movies ended up being a couple of the highest grossing movies during the decade. After this, there was no slowing down for Cruise. He quickly became one of the highest paid actors in the world.
Up until this point, Cruise held strongly onto his Catholic beliefs. However, in 1990 he decided that he no longer believed in the Catholic faith. He joined The Church of Scientology because he felt that it was this church that fixed his dyslexia.
Cruise's personality is what makes him well liked in the film community. He is friendly and compassionate. As far as relationships go, he was married to Nicole Kidman until 2001 when they divorced. Eventually, he was remarried to Katie Holmes, but this marriage did not work out either. They were married for five years and have a child together. As far as everything goes, Cruise is avoiding having to go to court for his divorce because he does not want this to become big news. The latest is that he is trying to keep custody of him and Katie Holmes's child.
Tom Cruise has lived the life that people can only hope for. He went out and became a famous actor after the first small role that he played in a movie. Most people have to struggle to become a movie star, but maybe this is what Cruise was destined to do.
