| Ice Age 4 | Continental Drift | Box Office Numbers | Opening ... Jul 15th 2012, 19:46 Filed under: Movies, Patrick Author: Patrick Date: Jul 15, 2012 This weekend, the fourth installment of Ice Age opened in theaters and certainly succeeded in getting the nut at the box office. 'Ice Age: Continental Drift' brought in an estimated $46 million this weekend and although it was the top film this weekend, it was slightly below expectations. This is the lowest opening for the franchise, with the original Ice Age opening with $46.3 million way back in 2002, without the 3D markup advantage. Some speculate that because 'Brave' and 'Madagascar 3' were still out in theaters, it did create some competition for this film. No other films opened for wide release this weekend, and thus the top films at the box office consist of films that have already been out in theatres for a while. Savages, which had a week opening last weekend, dropped 45% this weekend. I'm surprised this film didn't do better because it has so many good people in it! I'll have to wait for it to come out on iTunes to see what the non-fuss is about. Did you see any films this weekend? Matt saw Ice Age 4 and you can read what he thought of the film here.
